Two Types of Modified Bitumen Roofing
Modified bitumen roofing comes in two main types.
SBS, or styrene-butadiene-styrene, is the most popular type of modified bitumen roofing. SBS is very flexible due to a synthetic rubber additive and has excellent expansion and contraction abilities. SBS systems are typically installed with cold adhesives or hot asphalts.
APP, or atactic polypropylene, is extremely durable and protects against aging, extending its lifespan and ensuring optimum durability. APP systems are installed using the torch method.
